PROJECTS AND FUNDING

How we help

The foundation supports a range of different initiatives and is continually reviewing further funding opportunities.

Scholarships for study trips

Together with the zis Foundation for Study Travel, we enable gifted pupils to take a trip of at least four weeks off the beaten tourist track, which the young people plan and carry out entirely on their own. Only the scholarship provided may be spent on the trip; scholarship holders must choose an individual theme for the trip, keep a journal, and submit a final report.

Out-of-school care for disadvantaged children

We support Agapedia – Foundation for Children, Social Affairs and Education GmbH, founded by Jürgen Klinsmann in 1995. The foundation offers disadvantaged children in Germany between the ages of 6 and 12 out-of-school afternoon care, with activities such as sports, games, creative workshops and children's circus.

In several Eastern European countries, Agapedia also cares for abandoned children and orphans. The foundation provides them with family-based care and supports them in school and vocational training.

Caring for severely ill children and young people

The inpatient Children's and Youth Hospice in Stuttgart operates eight guest rooms of varying sizes across two floors of a beautifully and carefully renovated Art Nouveau villa high above the city. Long-term care insurance only covers the stay of the children and young people themselves.

We support the hospice in offering programs for families – including parents, siblings and the wider social environment – and also help fund recreational activities for the sick.

Promoting musical excellence

We support the non-profit association Gemeinschaft der Freunde Jazz Open Stuttgart e.V. in its goal of inspiring children and young people for jazz through participatory concerts and creating performance opportunities for up-and-coming bands. This takes place in particular within the "Jazz for Kids," "Jazz Open Playground BW," and "Jazz Open Stages" formats integrated into Jazz Open.

PURPOSE OF THE FOUNDATION

What we fund

The foundation's central goals are to support the care of children with severe physical and psychological illness and to promote highly gifted young people.

To this end, we want, on the one hand, to award scholarships to highly gifted pupils and students, doctoral candidates and post-docs both in Germany and abroad.

On the other hand, we support the care of severely ill and traumatized children – either directly or by supporting suitable projects at clinical institutions or children's hospices.

As part of our work, we support non-profit organizations and institutions that pursue goals consistent with our purposes.
